Luksus (meaning luxury in norwegian) is a lamp standing on a tripod of oakwood connected to a plateau of marble, with brass screws. To the marble there is attached a brass pipe with a brass fitting were the shade is connected. The brass fitting allows the shade to be flexibel in many directions. It can be turned sideways horizontal, and adjusted vertically, to give good illumination for your reading, or general illumination - giving both functional and ambience lightning.

I have played around with the meaning of luxury, and what it means today. There is something ironic in the way we think of luxury, and the word is somehow outdated. It is almost impossible to take an object out of context and call it luxury, however it is done in many cases.

My interpretation of the luxury in this lamp is the long-lasting quality in the materials together with easy and great function. With materials such brass, oak and marble in mind, I wanted to make a lamp that merge 'luxury' materials with the rationalistic aesthetics in Scandinavian design.

A series of illuminated sculptures made out from an arch lamp. Inspired by deconstructionism and eclecticism. They are not meant for mass production, nor to give good lightning, but primarily to be decorative pieces, that you cherish like it was a piece of art.<img src="http://payload21.cargocollective.com/1/6/195462/2730174/erkelampe fristilt lite.jpg" width="400" height="533" width_o="400" height_o="533" src_o="http://payload21.cargocollective.com/1/6/195462/2730174/erkelampe fristilt lite_o.jpg" data-mid="21455611" border="0" align="left"/><img src="http://payload21.cargocollective.com/1/6/195462/2730174/IMG_2916.jpg" width="670" height="502" width_o="2000" height_o="1500" src_o="http://payload21.cargocollective.com/1/6/195462/2730174/IMG_2916_o.jpg" data-mid="21455470" border="0" align="left"/><img src="http://payload21.cargocollective.com/1/6/195462/2730174/Front_bak.jpg" width="670" height="446" width_o="2048" height_o="1365" src_o="http://payload21.cargocollective.com/1/6/195462/2730174/Front_bak_o.jpg" data-mid="14717880" border="0" align="left"/><img src="http://payload21.cargocollective.com/1/6/195462/2730174/Med_utsnitt.jpg" width="670" height="447" width_o="2048" height_o="1366" src_o="http://payload21.cargocollective.com/1/6/195462/2730174/Med_utsnitt_o.jpg" data-mid="14716379" border="0" align="left"/><img src="http://payload21.cargocollective.com/1/6/195462/2730174/To_uten_lys_fra siden.jpg" width="670" height="447" width_o="2048" height_o="1366" src_o="http://payload21.cargocollective.com/1/6/195462/2730174/To_uten_lys_fra siden_o.jpg" data-mid="14723480" border="0" align="left"/><img src="http://payload21.cargocollective.com/1/6/195462/2730174/To_soldater_uten_lys.jpg" width="670" height="447" width_o="2048" height_o="1367" src_o="http://payload21.cargocollective.com/1/6/195462/2730174/To_soldater_uten_lys_o.jpg" data-mid="14724117" border="0" align="left"/><img src="http://payload21.cargocollective.com/1/6/195462/2730174/To_med_lys_med_utsnitt-1.jpg" width="670" height="446" width_o="2048" height_o="1365" src_o="http://payload21.cargocollective.com/1/6/195462/2730174/To_med_lys_med_utsnitt-1_o.jpg" data-mid="14722045" border="0" align="left"/><img src="http://payload21.cargocollective.com/1/6/195462/2730174/alle_alt_4_mindre_7.jpg" width="670" height="772" width_o="1918" height_o="2212" src_o="http://payload21.cargocollective.com/1/6/195462/2730174/alle_alt_4_mindre_7_o.jpg" data-mid="16728722" border="0" align="left"/>

EARL is a flexible light which is convincing through its simple but dynamic system. Twenty wooden pearls, threaded on a cable, act as levels in order to adjust the illuminating object. A hook locates the light source to any desired position. This provides an easy method of changing height and orientation, which enables a wide variety of implementation. The LED light source is embedded into the biggest pearl at the end of the thread. The silicone shade is pushed onto this pearl without being fixated. Similar to a spherical joint the silicone shade can be moved into different directions.

A project I did while interning at Llot Llov.
Featured in RUM #09, september 2011. You can also read about it here
